A 60-day journey through the Australian Coast has been cancelled following the fatal incident of an older lady who was abandoned by the vessel on a distant tropical isle.

The passenger had been trekking on Lizard Island with fellow passengers from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the party for a pause. The vessel departed without her and went back later that day after the personnel discovered the woman was missing.

An extensive search operation found her person the subsequent day.

Officials are looking into the event, together with law enforcement and the official investigator.

The CEO of the voyage organizer announced that travelers and personnel on the vessel were told that the remainder of the voyage had been cancelled due to the "sad loss and earlier engine troubles".

Through an announcement, he mentioned that passengers would be provided a full refund, and said the company was working "to organize the homeward trips of the passengers via chartered flights".

Regulatory bodies also published an updated statement, and said they had "delivered a order to the Master" banning any new passengers from boarding the ship.

The official said that they would visit the vessel in the Australian city upon its return.

The liner originally sailed from the coastal city on the 24th of October, and was only 48 hours into the voyage at the time of the 80-year-old's passing. The tropical location was the opening port on the voyage.

The child of the victim said that her relatives was "stunned and grieved that the ship left the island after an organised tour without my mum".

In her statement, she portrayed her parent as an "active octogenarian" who was a member of a hiking club.

"According to scant details we have been told, it appears that there was a breakdown of care and basic judgment," she stated.

She continued that she hoped the examination would be able to identify what "the company should have done that might have saved Mum's life".

"According to reports from the authorities that it was a extremely warm period, and mother fell ill on the uphill trek," she revealed.

"She was asked her to return, alone. Then the vessel departed, apparently without performing a headcount.

"At some stage in that process, or soon after, she succumbed, without company."

Through an announcement, the CEO verified that the company was "collaborating extensively with investigators to assist their examination".

He stated that the company was "extremely apologetic that this has happened" and had offered its full support to the family.

The vessel accommodates up to a hundred twenty guests with 46 personnel, according to company data. It was purpose-built to reach isolated areas of Australia's coast and is outfitted with "small boats" - compact vessels used to transport travelers on shore trips.

Events like this are rare, and cruise ships have procedures to track which travelers are boarding or getting off, according to industry experts.

Cruise lines consider these procedures very seriously and have "sophisticated systems in place to avoid such events from happening," the expert added.
